Explore the cutting-edge landscape of our research endeavors, where innovation meets curiosity to shape the future
Metal ion Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs):
Deep eutectic solvents are a class of liquids formed from the combination of a hydrogen bond donor (HBD) and a hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA). These solvents are easy to make, comparatively inexpensive, and tunable. They are also like ionic liquids in terms of their physiochemical properties and potential applications. They are however less explored compared to other solvent types, which is one of the reasons we like working with them. We are currently studying various zinc and aluminum salt HBAs. For those interested in our work, see our latest publications.
Thin Film Polymers:
Polymers are ubiquitous is our everyday lives. Thin film polymers have application in industries ranging medical to electronic. They are flexible and their properties can be designed for the intended purpose. Our interests in thin film polymers are mainly due to their tunability and versatility. We make our thin films through electrospinning and study their structure and physiochemical properties.
